I have been painting in South Florida for twenty years, surrounded by a lush, tropical world which has always pulled at me. Light streaming and sparkling on flowers, leaves or water makes me feel alive, and peaceful. The watercolors I use allow light to pour right through them, like stained glass windows, so they have a special glow.
I grew up in Caracas, Venezuela, always drawing. I used to draw paper dolls and their clothes, for my friends.
I rediscovered myself when a friend and I took a watercolor class at our community college. I had recently lost my husband to cancer and my friends encouraged me to get involved in this artistic activity.
After retiring from twenty five years of teaching at the primary and college levels I have put my energy into the painting I love.
Painting is my way of appreciating and sharing the beauty I see, and feel, in the world.
